Making the invisible, visible is key to suicide prevention.

Age often brings with it a feeling of invisibility. Of being under appreciated, unseen, and in need of both practical and emotional support. Challenges that have grown along with the senior demographic, as well as been exposed and intensified by the pandemic. Challenges that often affect caregivers as well as the seniors they care for. Too often feelings associated with depression and suicide go unspoken and unseen. If you have any instincts or sense that a client or caregiver is feeling overwhelmed and alone remember this. Never underestimate how instrumental a simple conversation can be in bringing these feelings to light.
